Church of Saint Nicholas - Rasca Monastery  

Rasca Monastery was founded by Petru Rares in 1542, during his second rule, for the monks of the old monastery Bogdanesti (1363)  which was robbed and destroyed by the tartars in 1510 and the turks in 1538.

The church was painted on the exterior walls by the greek painter Stamatello Kotronas in 1551-1552 and the painting "Ladder of  Virtues" here  was the model for the famous one from Sucevita Monastery.
