Church of Saint Nicholas of Balinesti

BalinestiIoan Tautu,  Chancellor of  Moldavia under Stephen the Great and  then under his  son Bogdan III, built this stone church near his manor house in 1499.

Its unique architecture with a lot of gothic elements is different from the Moldavian style of the other churches in the region.

This church was decorated on the exterior walls with coloured ceramic round plates and at the order of prince Petru Rares, in 1535-1538 was painted on the outside.
